United Nations System

The agencies, funds and programmes of the United Nations System (AFPs) are key partners of the Quito Process, as they provide technical and financial support to its ten thematic areas.

Each thematic area has an inter-agency working group led by one or more AFPs, selected according to their mandate and expertise, which identify needs and provide solutions based on their technical specialization.
In addition, the AFPs work hand in hand with civil society, academia and the private sector, under the coordination of the Technical Secretariat, for the benefit of member States and of refugees and migrants.

Participation in the Quito Process

The inter-agency groups carry out their activities following the guidance of the Pro Tempore Presidency and the champion country of each thematic area. The lead agencies coordinate the initiatives and, together with the Technical Secretariat, align the work of the other agencies to ensure coherent and complementary action.
