The Quito Process has consolidated itself as a reference intergovernmental space in Latin America and the Caribbean for technical and political coordination on human mobility. Its coordination with other regional mechanisms has strengthened cooperation, the coherence of agendas, and the building of sustainable regional responses.
Regional cooperation for human migration
Since its earliest rounds, member States have recognized that the challenges of migration and asylum require coordinated responses beyond national borders. Cooperation with other regional forums has made it possible to strengthen capacities, avoid duplication, and consolidate an approach based on solidarity, shared responsibility, and respect for human rights.
This coordination positions the Quito Process as a key space within regional migration governance, facilitating the exchange of best practices and the building of joint solutions for refugees and migrants.
Coordination Roadmap among Mechanisms
Starting in 2024, a formal coordination roadmap among regional mechanisms was established and validated at high-level meetings. This initiative strengthened cooperation with the RCM, CSM, OAS CAM, MIRPS, and Cartagena +40, consolidating the Quito Process as a complementary space within regional migration governance.
Shared Thematic Areas
Synergies with other regional forums have materialized in common thematic areas reflecting the priorities of States and the needs of refugee and migrant populations:

Socioeconomic Integration
Joint strategies on employment, education, and social cohesion.
Assistance to Vulnerable Populations
